A blur....

Ok so I don't have time for a good blog post, but here's what's happened this week to give you a brief idea of why I don't have time for a good blog post:

1. Jeremiah and the dogs arrived Wednesday night (a week ago)

2. We house hunted this weekend.

3. We house hunted again Monday night and found a house we liked.

4. We put in an offer on the house early Tuesday morning when I quickly signed the offer before dashing off to work

5. The ABF moving truck arrived Tuesday afternoon, so I met Jeremiah at the storage unit where Job, Erik, and Dave were unloading it to take a load of stuff to school, went back there to get another load and bring that to school as well. Finally got home Tuesday around 8:30 p.m.

** So that about sums up the craziness. Oh, and somewhere in there I've worked and slept and showered not quite as often as I should have. Something more poetic will be posted soon. For now good night! **

Goodbye House

Jeremiah and the dogs are heading out tomorrow to join me in Arizona! Although I am beyond excited for them to get here, I feel a deep, satisfied kind of sadness as I talk to Jeremiah on the phone today. He's telling me how the only thing left in the house are his clothes, the refrigerator is cleaned out, and the cupboards are bare. Everything is packed and polished and empty, and I cry big tears as he tells me this. I am sad to leave it, but grateful, for the times we've shared and the memories we've made in our first house. I love that it's the first home Jeremiah and I ever owned. I love it's creaky wood floors and arched doorways. I love the way our bedroom window would quietly rattle in a thunderstorm, making me thankful to be warm, and dry, and safe inside. I love the plantation shutters in the office windows, and the color I painted the hallway upstairs. I love the huge front porch that Jeremiah and I would sit on at night, being eaten by mosquitos and drinking wine.

I know when we get a new house out here, there will be fun "new house things" to be excited about, but for now, I'm a little sad as I picture Jeremiah driving away tomorrow morning. Goodbye house, and thank you for everything!

Home sweet home.

I thought I would post with some pictures of our new temporary residence living with our beyond generous friends, the Kamrath's, while we look for a house. This is their house in Queen Creek just outside of Gilbert, and their cars which they toted me around in for over a week until ours arrived (on the back of a huge car carrier driven by a very interesting Russian man, which makes for a whole other story).

On the road again

Here is said car, finally here as of last Thursday. It is amazing how much you take for granted the freedom of being able to hop in your car and go until you don't have it even for a somewhat short period of time. I felt like I was 15 again and have never been so excited to see our trusty Honda Accord. Jeremiah is driving out with his brother and the two dogs in the Mazda (which I will be even more excited to see). He is leaving Sunday night/Monday and should be out here a week from today. I CAN NOT WAIT! I miss my boys!

One step at a time

So since my last post some very good things have happened....our friends for sure want to rent our house in WI and are signing a lease tomorrow night, and Jeremiah can for sure work remotely from Arizona for Dell still. My job is going well so far, but I'm going on my third day of teacher orientation and just flat out feeling overwhelmed. It's really not a big deal, and it's to be expected. It's just hard going from feeling fairly competent/confident in my last teaching job to starting from scratch teaching something I've never taught before, and feeling like I'm at the bottom of the totem pole. I read a quote today that seemed to fit my situation perfectly, and will hopefully help me take things one step at a time.
