One of my favorite authors, Anne Lamott, tweeted today...
"@ANNELAMOTT Need to scribble NOW or day will be stolen away. A little bad writing is the secret to a guilt free day. Now!"
"Uhhhh, words?" I will say. Is that an acceptable response?
The problem is writers write. Period. They don't always write with an end goal in mind or for a specific project, and right now I have cleared up the space and time in my life to do just that. School's out for summer, and indefinitely for me as I'm taking an intentional break from teaching. But now I'm left with BPS - Blank Page Syndrome. With nothing but a blank page in front of me and all the time in the world to fill it with wisdom, I find myself doing nothing. So I am parking it on the couch and not allowing myself to get up until I have something on paper. I have filled my day with everything from boiling eggs to visiting the chiropractor and am loving the free time for the mundane. And, I can pinterest and facebook, twitter, or instagram like it's my job, but the fact of the matter is, writers write. They write words into sentences to form one awful paragraph at a time. So I submit to you my little bit of bad writing for today.
